Weather and forecast

Gran Canaria enjoys a spring climate all year round with average annual temperatures that fluctuate between 18 and 25 degrees centigrade.

The sea is equally as warm with temperatures fluctuating between 18C in the winter months and 22C during the rest of the year.

Gran Canaria is often called a miniature continent because of the large varieties in the landscapes and the varying climate from north to south, whilst the climate is dry and sunny almost all year round in the coastal regions, particularly in the south, as you move north it becomes increasingly humid and windy. The international scientific community recognises Las Palmas de Gran Canaria as one of the cities with the best climate in the world.

People often mistakenly think that if the winter is so warm on the islands then the summer must be overwhelming, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Summer in the Canary Islands is softened by the trade winds that refresh the archipelago serving it with a pleasant cool breeze resulting in mild summers with an average temperature of 24C
